News from our Healthwatch Assembly, 30th November 2016

We had a busy event on 30th November 2016, we heard about many topics from a new mental health talking therapy service to larger scale plans to improve local health and care. If you want to catch-up on these topics, then read on.

Our last Assembly meeting was held right in the heart of Wandsworth, at Tooting United Reformed Church, and was very well attended. This is one of four free public events we hold each year.

Key topics covered

  • Rebecca Wellburn, Director of Commissioning & Planning, Wandsworth Clinical Commissioning Group told us more about the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP), which the NHS will use to deliver services and care in Wandsworth and across South West London.
  • Dr Hendrik Hinrichsen, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Lead for Wandsworth and Sutton IAPT Services gave us an overview of the refreshed Mental Health Talking Therapies service, 'Talk Wandsworth', which was established to treat people suffering with mild to moderate mental health problems.

  • There was a brief, but very engaging, update from Harriet Owen from Action on Hearing Loss about accessing information about health care services when you have hearing loss and the services they offer to people with any sort of hearing loss or deficiency.

We covered a lot of information so do take a look at the presentations you can download below. The STP was a topic that raised a lot of questions, so we have recorded the questions and answers that can also be downloaded.

Hear more about these topics at our future events. Further details are on our website.
