Patient Reps Needed for Macmillan Cancer Project
The NHS is recruiting two Patient Representatives with knowledge and/or experience of using cancer services in south west London. They would like your expertise and input into discussions around improved after care and support for cancer patients and carers.
It is reported that care of cancer patients outside of hospital is not always as good as the care received at hospital. Macmillan Cancer Support has been providing a training and education programme for nurses to help support their development and skills in cancer care and the NHS is keen for this to continue to grow and develop.
To facilitate this, they have set up a steering group but want to ensure that the patient voice is heard for the entire length of the project. This will be the role of the Patient Representatives who will be provided with 121 support and training throughout the process.
Who can apply?
- Anyone living in south west London who has experience/knowledge of using cancer services in south west London
- Anyone who can commit to attending a face to face meeting approximately every six weeks (including reading papers - out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed)
- Anyone who is passionate and committed to improving the quality of care for patients across south west London
It is anticipated that the next meeting will take place at the end of April.
