GP practices are enhancing access to primary care services with online consultation solutions, which enable patients to raise clinical and administrative requests online.

South West London (SWL) ICS procured three online consultation solutions with differing functionalities to make sure GP practices could choose a solution most suited to their needs and their patients’ needs which means  there is variation across GP practices.

Please see below for information about the different online consultation solutions being used:

  • accuRx patient triage tool – enables patients to raise clinical and administrative queries, as well as sending attachments such as photographs or documents. To find out more about accuRx please see admin requests and medical requests.
  • eConsult Health – Patients will need to complete a series of questions to raise a clinical or administrative query. To find out more about EConsult please click here.
  • DoctorLink – Patients will need to complete an automated symptom assessment, which will direct the patient to the most appropriate service, such as a GP appointment or a pharmacy. To find out more about DoctorLink please click here. DoctorLink will be terminating it’s contract with SWL from 31st December 2022. All DoctorLink practices are in the process of transitioning to new online consultation providers.

Practices will still be accessible by telephone and these patients should be encouraged to phone their practice as normal. The use of online consultation solutions is an alternative way of contacting the practice and it’s main purpose is to enhance patient access and reduce telephone traffic.
