Over the last few months, we have worked closely with SHARE Community students to produce an easy read version of our Health & Social Care Survey, which we then asked students to complete, to understand its ease of use. This will mean that people with a learning disability will be able to tell us more about their experiences of health and social care.
We then held a series of workshops with Baked Beans actors to gain their feedback on the usability of the survey and feedback on the images.
Through the shared work and feedback from students at SHARE Community and actors at Baked Beans we have now produced an easy read version of our Health & Social Care survey using Makaton images.
Most of the students preferred we use Makaton images in the survey, which is the universal language/imagery for most people with a learning disability.
The survey can be found on our website, you can also access it here:
We would like to thank all the SHARE Community students and Baked Bean actors who participated, also the staff who helped to facilitate the workshops.
“This has proved to be a valuable piece of work. I hope this will be the first of many surveys and information we can co-produce with students into an easy read format.” -Delia Fitzsimmons
